Job summary

Academics is seeking a reliable School Caretaker for a permanent role at a secondary school in Luton. You will maintain buildings, grounds and facilities to keep them safe, secure and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities include general maintenance and minor repairs, site checks, opening and securing the buildings, monitoring heating, lighting, alarms, and assisting with deliveries and contractors. Salary £21,000-£26,000 per annum depending on hours and experience.

Qualifications

• Practical, reliable and hardworking and able to work independently.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and communicate with staff, pupils and contractors.
• Willingness to support health and safety procedures and site security.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across the school site.
• Ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well presented.
• Conduct regular premises checks and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Open and secure school buildings as required.
• Monitor heating, lighting, alarms and other site systems.
• Assist with deliveries, contractors and visitors.
• Support basic grounds maintenance and outdoor upkeep.
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies.
• Support the school's health and safety procedures.
• Carry out other reasonable duties to support the school.
