Job summary

Mitie is seeking a School Caretaker for St. Matthews Academy in Saltcoats, East Ayrshire. You will deliver high standards of cleanliness, maintain equipment, and support a safe, welcoming school environment in line with Mitie policies. Experience preferred but not essential.

This is a permanent, full-time role at 40 hours per week, paying £13.31 per hour. An enhanced DBS check and safeguarding commitment are required, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking experience is preferred but not essential.

• Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality, with willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all required training and follow Mitie's Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies.
• Maintain equipment in clean, safe working order and understand all cleaning materials and chemicals used.
• Ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, security, and safety of school premises and grounds.
• Respond to helpdesk jobs, unlock/lock buildings, and carry out porterage and room setups.
• Perform PPM tasks including fire alarm tests, emergency light checks, and support out-of-hours building use.
