Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a reliable Caretaker for Our Lady & St Joseph's RC Primary School in Rotherham. The role covers opening/closing, security, and maintaining buildings and grounds to a high standard.

You will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a split shift, liaising with teachers and contractors to ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students and staff. The salary is Band C (£26,427) with full-time permanent terms.

Qualifications

• Reliable, practical and hardworking.
• Willingness to perform routine maintenance and DIY tasks.
• Ability to follow health and safety procedures including COSHH.
• Open/close premises and maintain security.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school premises and grounds.
• Serve as a responsible key holder and ensure security at all times.
• Maintain buildings and grounds to a high standard, liaising with contractors.
• Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs/DIY tasks.
• Record required site checks and health and safety records.
• Follow health and safety requirements including COSHH regulations.
• Monitor stock and order materials/equipment as required.
• Collaborate with the school team and support colleagues.
• Attend Health and Safety training as required.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.
