Job summary

Sully Primary School is seeking a reliable, proactive School Caretaker to join its friendly team. The role focuses on keeping the site secure, clean and welcoming, with duties including security, basic maintenance and daily checks.

Hours are 20 per week (two shifts daily) at Sully Primary School, grade 4 pay (£26,847-£27,274 pro rata). A full UK driving licence and enhanced DBS are required, with safeguarding and health & safety training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience of site security and premises management, including monitoring access, responding to alarms and reporting security faults.
• Health and safety knowledge in a school setting and a commitment to follow school H&S policies and risk assessment procedures.
• Practical DIY and basic maintenance skills with the ability to complete routine repairs and organise contractors when necessary.
• Physically able to lift and move furniture and equipment safely and to walk the site for inspections and daily checks.
• Flexibility to work split shifts and occasional evenings for school events, lettings or night classes.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training (including safeguarding, H&S, manual handling and ladder / working-at-height training).
• Full UK driving licence and confidence driving a school vehicle where required.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to complete written reports, maintenance logs and basic record keeping.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to liaise professionally with staff, contractors, pupils and visitors.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and maintaining confidentiality; comfortable working within the school’s policies and procedures.
• The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and pre-employment checks in line with statutory guidance.

About the role

Pay Details: Grade 4, 6-7 £26,847 -£27,274 per annum, pro rata

Hours of Work / Weeks per year / Working Pattern: 20 hours a week (four hours per day) 7.00 am – 9.00 am, 4.30 pm – 6.30 pm for 52 weeks per year

About you
