Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment seeks an experienced School Caretaker to support the safe, secure, and efficient running of a Stockport school site.

You will perform daily site checks, basic repairs and maintenance, and assist with contractors while ensuring a clean, safe environment for staff and pupils. DBS via Update Service is required, along with the right to work in the UK and prior school-site experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Supervisor, Site Assistant or similar is essential.
• Experience within a school or similar facilities/site environment is required.
• You must currently hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• DBS on Update Service is mandatory.
• Practical maintenance and basic repair skills are needed.
• Good understanding of site security and health and safety is required.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• Right to work in the UK is required.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site as needed.
• Carry out daily site, security and health and safety checks.
• Perform minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Monitor building, grounds and facilities condition.
• Support contractors and maintenance visits.
• Report larger repairs as appropriate.
• Assist with moving equipment, furniture and deliveries.
• Maintain safe access routes and external areas.

School Caretaker

Stockport, SK4

£16-18 per hour | ASAP start | Long-term

Smile Education are recruiting for an experienced School Caretaker to work within a school in Stockport, SK4.

This role is only suitable for candidates with previous caretaker/site experience within a school or similar setting who already hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.

Applicants without both of these requirements will not be considered.

The Role

As a School Caretaker, you will support the safe, secure and effective day-to-day running of the school site.

You will complete general maintenance, site checks, security duties and basic repairs while ensuring the school remains clean, safe and ready for staff and pupils.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site where required.
• Complete daily site, security and health and safety checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Monitor the condition of the building, grounds and facilities.
• Support contractors and maintenance visits where required.
• Respond to site issues and report larger repairs appropriately.
