This full-time, permanent position offers competitive pay and an immediate start for the right candidate.

About the Role:

As a School Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to students with additional needs, helping them to participate fully in school life. You will work in close collaboration with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure that pupils receive the appropriate care and support they need to achieve their educational and developmental goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide physical, emotional, and social support to students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as feeding, dressing, and mobility, where necessary.
  • Promote students' independence and self-confidence within a school environment.
  • Support teachers in the classroom to ensure that students with SEN can fully participate in activities.
  • Collaborate with other support staff to create individual care plans for students.
  • Help students develop positive behaviour and social interaction skills.
  • Ensure that safeguarding policies and health and safety guidelines are adhered to.
  • Provide feedback on student progress and well-being to teachers and other professionals.

What We’re Looking For: To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Experience working in a care or support role, preferably with children or young people with additional needs.
  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to working with children.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care needs as required.
  • Qualifications in health & social care, education, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

Benefits of Joining GSL Education:

  • Compensation ranging from £13.68 - £16.12 per hour, based on your professional background.
  • Full support from a dedicated consultant throughout the recruitment process and beyond.
  • The chance to work in a supportive school environment that values inclusivity.
  • A rewarding career helping children with additional needs reach their full potential.

If you’re ready to make a positive impact on the lives of students in need of support and care, we encourage you to apply for this meaningful role.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing an application for a new check.
