Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a capable administrative assistant to join a school admin team, based in the reception. The role involves coordinating a varied mix of clerical and financial tasks and providing guidance to colleagues where needed.

You will support pupils, parents and staff, maintain accurate records, handle enquiries, and contribute to reporting. Occasional travel to off-site provisions may be required to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

Job description

Working independently on a varied range of tasks which may require the use of some analysis and judgement to complete including, but not limited to, being responsible for co-ordinating, monitoring and organising administrative/clerical or financial systems and procedures for the school. There may be a requirement to provide support and guidance to other members of staff and be able to deal with correspondence or enquiries and co-ordinating, monitoring and managing administrative/clerical activities or financial processes. The post is based in reception, and reception duties will be a core part of the role, joining an existing admin team. General Duties

  • To work within school policies and procedures.
  • To contribute to the effective running of the school site.
  • To support the promotion of positive relationships with parents and outside agencies.
  • To attend skill training and participate in personal/performance development as required.
  • To take care for their own and other people's health and safety.
  • To be aware of the confidential nature of issues.
  • To support the running and effectiveness of systems that contribute to Finance, HR, site management, and the effective running of the Admin team.
  • To support when necessary with medical administration, playground duty, and the transition of pupils to and from learning environment.
  • To support when necessary tasks that may involve travel to/from the school's off site provision.

Qualifications
  • Good standard of education including English and Maths (GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent)
  • Relevant administrative or business support qualification or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development
Desirable Qualifications
  • Qualification in business administration, finance, or education support
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to train
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working in an administrative or clerical role
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment with competing priorities
  • Experience of dealing with enquiries and providing frontline customer service
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records (manual and/or electronic)
  • Experience of contributing to reports or management information
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of handling financial processes (e.g. monitoring expenditure, reconciling accounts)
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting
  • Experience using school management systems or financial software
