Job summary

Mersey Care NHS Trust is offering a Training Post - Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner in the Northwest. Under supervision, you will develop skills delivering guided self-help and evidence-based interventions for children and young people in education settings, with pathways to specialist services as needed.

You’ll work with teachers, parents and staff to promote whole-school mental health and maintain records for governance and evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Requirement to study at degree level
  • Proven record of previous academic attainment
  • Literacy and numeracy at level 2 minimum
  • Must complete PGDip Education Mental Health Practitioner training
  • Experience with children and young people preferred
  • Ability to manage own diary and coordinate appointments
  • Collaborate with teachers/parents/staff
  • Computer literate - Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn in diverse settings and learning methods
  • Manage a sensitive, potentially distressing caseload
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Willingness to travel
  • Team player with good time management
  • Prioritise and organise workload
  • Assess mild to moderate mental health issues in CYP
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment
  • Familiarity with RiO/Attend Anywhere/OBS Studio

Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people in education settings under supervision
  • Assist in identifying and referring more severe cases to specialist services
  • Support schools staff to promote whole-school mental health approach
  • Keep records and contribute to data collection and governance
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and prepare case load information
  • Engage in supervision and training activities
  • Collaborate with families and educators to co-produce care plans
