Job summary

Cardiff Local Authority is seeking a School Based Counsellor (Welsh Essential) to join a friendly team delivering independent counselling across maintained secondary schools and a Pupil Referral Unit in Cardiff. You will work across schools and the community, with supervision and CPD opportunities provided.

The role requires a professional diploma in Counselling, post-qualification supervised practice, and accreditation/registration with BACP or UKCP or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Professional diploma in Counselling with post-qualification supervised practice.
• Accredited/registered with BACP or UKCP or equivalent.
• Understanding of Safeguarding, Social Inclusion and Well-being agendas.
• Experience of working with schools and with younger primary children (years 5-6) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work in comprehensive schools, primary schools and community settings as part of the ongoing development of counselling services in Cardiff Local Authority.
• Access to clinical and managerial supervision and continuing professional development opportunities.
