Job summary

Aspire People is seeking dedicated Care Assistants to support pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities in a SEN school setting in the Bury area. You will help with personal care, mobility and daily routines within a calm school environment.

Ideal candidates may have training in Moving and Handling, PEG feeding, tracheostomy care or related clinical procedures, and those without training but with care experience are encouraged to apply as full training can be provided.

Qualifications

  • Training in moving and handling, PEG feeding, tracheostomy care, epilepsy management, suctioning or other clinical procedures is beneficial.
  • Candidates without this training but with relevant care experience are encouraged to apply and can receive training.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personal care in line with individual care and medical plans
  • Support pupils with physical needs, positioning and mobility
  • Assist with feeding, hydration and nutritional support
  • Support pupils with complex medical needs following training and guidance
  • Safely use specialist equipment and resources
  • Support sensory and therapeutic activities
  • Monitor pupils' health and wellbeing and report concerns
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, hygiene and care

Job description

Care Assistant - Bury

Specialist SEN schools in the Bury area are seeking dedicated Care Assistants to support pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). This role is centred around providing high‑quality care and support to pupils with complex physical, medical and sensory needs, within a calm, structured school environment.

You will play a key role in ensuring pupils are safe, comfortable and supported throughout the school day. Many pupils require a high level of care, including support with personal care, mobility, feeding and medical needs. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals to support pupils' wellbeing and development.

This role requires patience, empathy and consistency, with a strong focus on dignity and individualised care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personal care in line with individual care and medical plans
  • Support pupils with physical needs, positioning and mobility

Ideal Candidate

Training in areas such as Moving and Handling, PEG feeding, tracheostomy care, epilepsy management, suctioning or other clinical procedures is highly beneficial. Candidates without this training but with relevant care experience are also encouraged to apply, as further training can be provided.
