Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting for a School Attendance Officer to join our partner secondary school in South Yorkshire on a full-time basis, starting ASAP.

The role focuses on improving student attendance and punctuality by tracking records, contacting families, identifying barriers, and coordinating with pastoral teams to implement support plans. You will collaborate with staff to promote positive attendance.

We're currently recruiting for a School Attendance Officer to join one of our partner secondary schools in South Yorkshire on a full-time basis, starting ASAP.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, confident, and approachable individual to play an important role in improving student attendance and punctuality. Working closely with students, families, teaching staff, and the wider pastoral team, you'll help identify barriers to attendance and put the right support in place to help students engage positively with school.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring and maintaining accurate records of student attendance and punctuality.
• Following up on unexplained absences and contacting parents and carers where required.
• Identifying patterns of absence and working with the pastoral team to address concerns.
• Building positive relationships with students and families to encourage improved attendance.
• Supporting students who are persistently absent or at risk of becoming persistently absent.
• Working closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and senior leadership teams to support attendance strategies.
• Preparing attendance reports and maintaining accurate records in line with school procedures.
• Supporting attendance meetings and contributing to action plans where required.
