Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated School Matron to provide medical support and administrative assistance at a leading preparatory school for ages 4–11. You will manage first aid, allergy protocols and front-office duties, while supporting staff and parents with uniforms and admin tasks.

The role is term-time with additional holiday weeks, offers a monthly pay cycle within a 37.5-hour week, and includes pension, discounted school fees, and meals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid care to pupils and staff, assessing needs and responding effectively to emergencies
  • Support pupils with minor medical needs and care for those feeling unwell during the school day
  • Respond effectively to allergic reactions and administer medication in line with school procedures
  • Ensure staff are trained in allergy management and complete relevant risk assessments
  • Assist parents with uniform purchases and arrange fittings during term-time and holidays
  • Maintain a stock list of uniform and place orders when stock is low
  • Assist with general school administration, liaising with the Bursar and Head’s PA
  • Provide occasional cover for the front office, answering calls and greeting parents and visitors
  • Keep all information about the school, pupils and staff confidential

An amazing opportunity has arisen for a committed School Matron to work in a leading preparatory school based in the Birmingham, West Midlands area. You will be working for one of the top performing preparatory schools in West Midlands

This is an independent preparatory school for children aged 4 to 11 that prides itself on the creation of well-rounded individuals, by instilling a set of values that will carry them far in life

As the School Matron your key responsibilities include:
  • Provide first aid care to pupils and staff, assessing needs and responding effectively to emergencies
  • Support pupils with minor medical needs and care for those feeling unwell during the school day
  • Respond effectively to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, administering medication (e.g. auto-injectors) in line with school procedures
  • Ensure all staff is appropriately trained in allergy management, understand their responsibilities, and complete relevant risk assessments
  • Assist parents with the purchase of uniform via the school supplier, arranging opportunities during the school term and holidays for pupils to see and try on uniform samples
  • Maintain a stock list of uniform, placing orders when stock is low
  • Assist with general school administration, working closely with the Bursar, school receptionists, and the Head’s PA
  • Provide occasional cover for the front office, answering the telephone, greeting parents and visitors and dealing with enquiries as required
  • Keep all information regarding the school, pupils and staff completely confidential at all times
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:

**To be considered for this position you must have first Aid training, or willingness to undertake training at start of employment + Experience of providing first aid or medical support to children**

The successful School Matron will receive an excellent salary of £23,307.39 - £23,822.66 per annum - Pay frequency is monthly. This exciting position is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours a week from 8am-4pm Mon-Fri. This is a term-time only position; with an additional 2 weeks to be worked during the school holiday periods.
