Job summary

Bradley David Associates in London is seeking an experienced underwriting specialist to steer profitable acquisition and retention of Life, Income Protection, and Critical Illness schemes. You will serve as the primary contact for Scheme Underwriting internally and externally to ensure policy compliance and client satisfaction.

You will assess risks to determine pricing, build strategic partnerships, and lead knowledge-sharing to elevate underwriting standards.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of Protection products, pricing structures, and terms.
  • Strong knowledge of the Protection market and competitor activity.
  • Experience in risk assessment with pricing authority.
  • Excellent relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Determine pricing for corporate benefit schemes by assessing risks (geography, industry, hazards, claims history).
  • Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners, including pooling networks.
  • Deliver coaching and training to enhance underwriting knowledge standards.
  • Act as central support on products and procedures for internal teams and clients.
  • Analyse portfolio performance and industry trends to improve underwriting practices.
  • Support evolution of Protection products and pricing models.
  • Develop customer-centric propositions that align with profitability goals.
  • Stay updated on industry developments to stay competitive in Protection.
  • Monitor legislative changes affecting Protection policies for compliance.

Job Summary

Responsible for the profitable acquisition and retention of Life, Income Protection, and Critical Illness schemes by serving as the primary point of contact for Scheme Underwriting both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine pricing for corporate benefit schemes by applying sound judgment to assess risks such as geographic location, industry type, occupational hazards, catastrophe exposure, and claims history.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key strategic partners, including multinational pooling networks.
  • Enhance departmental expertise in Scheme Underwriting by delivering coaching, training, and maintaining knowledge standards through licensing.
  • Act as a central source of support and guidance on products and procedures for internal teams and external clients, ensuring adherence to policy terms, legislation, and best practices.
  • Analyse portfolio performance and industry trends to recommend improvements to underwriting practices, incorporating feedback and claims data.
  • Support the evolution and refinement of Protection products and pricing models.
  • Develop and implement customer-centric propositions that align with and exceed profitability objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments to ensure competitiveness in the Protection market.
  • Continuously monitor legislative changes affecting Protection policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
