Job summary

GSL Education Scarborough is seeking a Complex Education Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with diverse needs across Scarborough's educational settings.

You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, assist with personalised learning activities, and help pupils access learning in a safe, inclusive environment. Strong safeguarding focus and DBS compliance are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach is required.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of young people.
• Enhanced DBS disclosure registered with Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with complex educational or additional needs.
• Assist teachers with personalised learning activities and differentiated tasks.
• Support pupils with communication, sensory, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Encourage independence, engagement, and positive participation in learning and routines.
• Monitor engagement and progress, sharing observations with teachers and the support team.
• Maintain a calm, safe, inclusive environment tailored to individual pupil needs.
