Job summary

Experis is seeking an SC-cleared Senior Linux Engineer to join a specialist team in Telford for 6-9 months with possible extension. The role focuses on managing SUSE and Red Hat Linux estates across live, development, and test environments, with some out-of-hours work.

You will support, administer, and maintain Linux servers, perform incident resolution, and drive migration projects while developing automation through shell scripting.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Linux administration experience (SUSE and Red Hat).
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale Linux estates.
• Ability to develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts.
• Experience troubleshooting complex UNIX/Linux infrastructures.
• Knowledge of performance tuning, patching, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, administration, and maintenance for Linux servers.
• Manage SLES and RHEL environments.
• Deliver operational support across live, development, and test environments.
• Perform incident resolution and root cause analysis.
• Implement and deploy infrastructure changes per change management.
• Support infrastructure migration and transformation programs.
• Automate tasks with UNIX shell scripts.
• Collaborate with project teams on improvements and solutions.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security.
• Produce technical documentation and support guides.
• Participate in out-of-hours maintenance and projects.
