Job summary

CBSbutler is seeking a Java Developer with SC clearance for a 6-month rolling contract in Newcastle. The role focuses on cloud-based geospatial software, with hybrid onsite requirements (2-3 days per week) and a strong emphasis on Agile development practices.

You will design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-native Java applications, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and work closely with a collaborative team to deliver high-quality software on a modern cloud stack.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java.
• Experience developing cloud-based services.
• Unit testing experience.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams.
• DevSecOps tools such as Tekton, ArgoCD and SonarQube.
• Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes.
• Quarkus Framework.
• Front-end development using Angular.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable Java applications.
• Build cloud-based services using modern development practices.
• Write unit and automated tests to ensure software quality.
• Participate in design and code reviews, promoting best practices for security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Produce clear technical documentation and share knowledge across the team.
• Contribute to sprint planning, estimations, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
• Collaborate closely with the wider Scrum team to deliver sprint commitments.
• Champion continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
