Job summary

iO Associates is seeking a Data Engineer in Greater London to join multidisciplinary teams delivering modern data solutions. You will design and build data pipelines, models and analytics products, working closely with clients, designers, analysts and engineers to turn business problems into scalable data-driven outcomes.

This hands-on role offers growth in a collaborative, Agile environment. SC clearance is a key requirement; ideally you hold active clearance or are eligible to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Experience translating business questions into data or analytical requirements.
• Strong SQL and Python for data modelling, transformation, automation and analysis.
• Experience with data warehouses, lakehouse environments or analytics tools such as Power BI.
• Familiarity with modern data engineering frameworks and tools (e.g. Spark/PySpark, Pandas).
• Experience with cloud data platforms on AWS or Azure (e.g. Databricks, Redshift).
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals and CI/CD practices.
• Basic analytics and statistics, including experimentation.
• Awareness of AI/ML concepts and data governance (GDPR).

Responsibilities

• Translate business problems into data, analytical and technical tasks with guidance.
• Design, build and maintain data pipelines, models and products using SQL, Python and modern tools.
• Work with data warehouses, lakehouse platforms and semantic models for analytics and visualization.
• Contribute to cloud data solutions (AWS/Azure) with testing and CI/CD practices.
• Apply analytics, AI/ML integration, governance, security and data quality in delivery teams.
• Create clear data visualisations and explanations to help users act on insights.
• Collaborate with users and stakeholders in Agile, client-driven environments.
• Follow industry standards and produce well-documented, handover-ready solutions.
