Job summary

CDM Recruitment is partnering with a well-established client in the steel fabrication sector to recruit an experienced Fabrication Painter & Sawyer. The role involves cutting, preparing and painting steel sections within a busy workshop, delivering high-quality finishes.

The ideal candidate will have steel fabrication or manufacturing experience, be comfortable reading drawings, and have coating application skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in steel fabrication, engineering or manufacturing.
• Experience operating mechanical saws.
• Experience with industrial painting/coatings.
• Able to read engineering drawings and cutting lists.
• Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Forklift licence would be advantageous.
• Overhead crane experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Operate bandsaws to cut steel accurately to drawings and cutting lists.
• Prepare steel components by grinding, cleaning and deburring.
• Apply primers, topcoats and protective coatings.
• Use brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
• Load and unload materials using a forklift and overhead crane.
• Maintain good housekeeping and safe working practices.

Hours: 38 hours per week (Overtime available)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
