Job summary

A leading UK company is seeking a Satellite System Test Engineer to contribute to spacecraft testing and mission-critical processes. The ideal candidate will interpret test specifications, execute and troubleshoot test sequences, and support investigations in a high-pressure environment. An understanding of spacecraft systems and programming skills in Java or Python will be advantageous.

Job Title: Satellite System Test Engineer
Location: Stevenage (Onsite)
Type: Contract
About the Role:
Love space, tech, and solving puzzles under pressure? We're seeking a Satellite System Test Engineer to test spacecraft from integration to space survivability. You will design test sequences, troubleshoot issues, and participate in mission-critical reviews.
Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret test specifications and develop test procedures and scripts.
• Execute and debug spacecraft test sequences.
• Support during test anomalies and investigations.
• Write automated test procedures using Elisa (Open Center) and Java.
• Assist with tests in thermal, EMC, and magnetic environments.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience in scripting spacecraft tests with Central Checkout Systems (Elisa, Java).
• Knowledge of spacecraft systems: 1553, SpaceWire, AOCS, FDIR, power, thermal, etc.
• Familiarity with TMTC databases and system verification processes.
• Practical experience with test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, bus analyzers).
• Basic scripting (bash) or programming (Python, Java, C) skills are a plus.
