Job summary

Strike IT Services Limited is seeking an experienced SAS Viya Engineer in London on a hybrid basis. The role focuses on migrating to SAS Viya 4, developing SAS Base programs and macros, and deploying SAS Viya microservices on Kubernetes.

The candidate will work with cloud environments, implement CI/CD, and integrate with Python via SWAT and REST APIs. The successful engineer will also design ETL pipelines with Snowflake, PostgreSQL and S3, automate infrastructure using Terraform or Ansible, and

Qualifications

• Hands-on SAS Viya deployment, engineering and administration (Viya 4).
• Advanced Base SAS and SAS Macro development.
• Strong knowledge of CAS, workload optimisation and parallel processing.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes, Helm and Linux.
• Experience deploying or managing Viya on major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Proficiency in Python integration with SAS Viya via SWAT and REST APIs.
• Infrastructure automation with Terraform or Ansible; CI/CD integration.
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring.

SAS Viya Engineer

Location: London - Hybrid working
Start date: ASAP

We are seeking an experienced SAS Viya Engineer to support an ongoing migration to SAS Viya 4 within a major client environment in London.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong, practical SAS Viya expertise, alongside advanced SAS development, cloud infrastructure and platform administration skills. You will be expected to work independently on SAS-related activities and contribute from the outset, with internal teams providing support on the organisation's environment and configuration.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the migration to SAS Viya 4, including deployment, configuration, integration and troubleshooting.
• Develop and optimise Base SAS programmes, SAS Macros and CAS workloads, supporting efficient in-memory and parallel data processing.
• Deploy and manage SAS Viya microservices on Kubernetes, using Helm and Linux within a cloud environment.
• Design and maintain ETL pipelines and connectivity with enterprise data sources, including Snowflake, PostgreSQL and Amazon S3.
• Integrate SAS Viya with Python using the SWAT package and with other applications through REST APIs.
• Automate infrastructure and platform activities using Terraform or Ansible, integrating changes into CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor platform health and performance using Prometheus and Grafana, investigating issues and implementing improvements.
• Configure and maintain role-based access control, user authentication and data access controls.
• Work with internal engineering, infrastructure and security teams to deliver a stable, secure and maintainable platform.
• Document configurations, processes and operational procedures to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Strong, demonstrable hands-on SAS Viya experience, including Viya 4 deployment, engineering and administration.
• Advanced Base SAS and SAS Macro development skills.
• Strong understanding of Cloud Analytic Services (CAS), including workload optimisation and parallel processing.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes, Helm and Linux.
• Experience deploying or managing Viya on at least one major cloud platform: AWS EKS, Azure AKS or GCP GKE.
• Experience designing ETL pipelines and configuring enterprise database and storage connectivity.
• Proficiency in Python integration with SAS Viya, including the SWAT package, and working with REST APIs.
• Infrastructure automation experience using Terraform or Ansible, alongside CI/CD integration.
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for platform monitoring.
• Knowledge of RBAC, authentication technologies such as OIDC, SAML and LDAP, and data governance.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to take ownership of technical activities with minimal supervision.
