Job summary

Eurofins Scientific in London is recruiting a Laboratory Support Clerk to assist with the day-to-day registration of water samples for preparation and analysis, on a 37.5-hour night shift (Mon–Fri, 22:00–06:00). You will ensure accurate registration, maintain sample integrity and help the team meet client turnaround times while following ISO17025 and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths/English/Chemistry or Biology at grade C or above
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Good laboratory skills and practices

Responsibilities

• Register samples with high accuracy, including details and testing
• Ensure registration supports efficient laboratory operation
• Follow ISO17025 and Quality Management procedures
• Maintain up-to-date sample registration and customer contact details
• Communicate with customers about missing samples or unclear instructions
• Handle samples per documented procedures, maintaining temperature and integrity
• Maintain records as per quality procedures

Job Description

37.5 Hours per week. Please note this role is working nights. Monday - Friday - 22:00 - 06:00.

Purpose of the post

To assist in the day-to-day registration of samples ready for preparation and analysis of Water Samples within the Laboratory in accordance with documented procedures.

• Ensure registration occurs with high level of accuracy – including registration details and testing
• Ensure registration occurs enabling the laboratory to function efficiently.
• Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with ISO17025 and the Quality Management system where relevant.
• Maintain sample registration guide and customer contact details with up to date information.
• Communication with customer on missing samples/ paperwork, unclear testing instructions, and samples testing outside stability.
• Undertake all tasks within the laboratory appropriate to your level of training.
• Ensure samples received are handled in accordance with documented procedures, including attention to temperature control, storage and maintenance of sample integrity.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Quality System in order to comply with the policies, procedures and associated documents.
• Maintenance of accurate records as detailed in the quality procedures.
• Work with Team Leader, Laboratory Manager to achieve daily targets, ensuring client turnaround time is met.
• Work with the team on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Report any anomalies or concerns direct to your line leader.
• Ensure client contact is conducted in a professional manner and any client queries are dealt with or notified to your line leader.
• Uphold and maintain client and company confidentiality
• Receive customer communications, performing actions, delegating or escalating to seniors as appropriated.
• Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy
• Maintenance of laboratory fittings and equipment as directed.
• Undertake any other duties as required.

Qualifications
