Job summary

Eurofins Lextox, a UKAS-accredited laboratory, is seeking a Sample Collector / Phlebotomist to join our team covering Durham and surrounding areas on a permanent basis. You will professionally collect blood, hair and DNA samples from appointments at various locations, within a 2-hour radius of your home.

The role requires a qualified phlebotomist with venepuncture experience, a valid UK driving licence and an enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

• Must be a professionally qualified phlebotomist.
• Experience in venepuncture techniques (vacutainer and butterfly) or similar.
• Ability to collect samples in non-clinical settings.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Enhanced DBS check required.
• 2+ years post-qualification phlebotomy experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Attend pre-booked appointments within a 2-hour radius from home.
• Provide professional blood, hair and DNA sample collection.
• Maintain excellent relationships with clients and donors.
• Support quality management and ISO17025 compliance.
• Ensure safe, healthy and low-risk collection environments.

Job description

We have a vacancy for a Sample Collector / Phlebotomist to join our Sample Collections team within Durham and surrounding areas, on a permanent basis. Candidates must be professionally qualified Phlebotomists, have recent experience in various venepuncture techniques (predominately vacutainer and butterfly) and be able to collect samples in non-clinical settings. Hours: 35hrs per week, Monday - Friday (no weekends).

The Role:

• Attending pre booked appointments at various locations in and around the Middlesbrough area - appointments can be up to a 2 hour radius from your home.
• Provide a professional hair, blood and DNA sample collection service.
• Maintain and develop excellent relationships with clients, donors as the public face of Lextox.
• Implement the requirements of the company Quality management System and help maintain ISO17025 accreditation.
• Ensure that all collections are undertaken in a safe, healthy and low risk environment and manner.
• Provide statements of truth at point of collection., Assignments will generally be within a 2-hour radius of a collector's home address by car. Collections assignments will generally be at either a solicitor's office, local authority office or donor's home; appropriate PPE will be provided.
• For this position, the role will involve the taking of blood samples, where Hepatitis B vaccination is required.
• This role includes car allowance and an enhanced DBS check will also be an essential requirement for this role.

Desirable:

• Experience in working within the NHS/Blood Service.
• Experience in collecting hair and DNA samples (in-house training is provided for this aspect of the role).
• Excellent interpersonal and language skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential to this role.
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in Phlebotomy, post qualification (proof of Phlebotomy competency may be required).
