Job description

Description

AWS is the leading cloud provider, offering virtualized infrastructure, storage, networking, messaging, analytics, and other web computing services to customers all over the world. Within the AWS WW Commercial Sales (WWCS) organization, the Sales Strategy and Operations team is responsible for supporting Leadership, Sales, and Operational teams in achieving organizational objectives and driving continuous improvements in field productivity. We own and deliver “run the business” (RTB) operational cadences, build new mechanisms to support organizational growth and scale, and drive organizational initiatives.

Are you passionate about solving business problems through data‑driven decision making? We are looking for a Sales Planning Lead for the Annual Planning mechanism. This role partners with Sales Planning leadership to define business requirements, develop insights on the efficacy of our tools and mechanisms, automate operational processes, and invent new ways of diving deep with data to uncover actionable business insights to help us serve stakeholders. The successful candidate has broad technical skills, strong financial acumen, deep analytic experience and a passion for driving operational excellence.

The successful candidate must be able to roll‑up their sleeves, work autonomously, and be a quick learner. You will drive towards simple, scalable solutions to day‑to‑day problems, be highly organized, and be able to communicate results – both written and verbally – in a clear and easy‑to‑understand way. You will proactively seek answers in self‑service tools and know when to ask for guidance. Must be passionate about work, detail‑oriented, analytical, and demonstrate problem‑solving skills with the ability to raise issues and roadblocks as needed. You will manage multiple assignments and requests/processes concurrently, prioritizing accordingly, and deliver timely results. Additionally, you will drive improvements to reporting tools, methods, and processes to increase the availability and granularity of actionable data.

This position will work with stakeholders in the extended AWS Global Sales organization, such as Professional Services and Partners. The individual must communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders across multiple geographies. AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) drives revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest‑growing small‑ and mid‑market accounts to enterprise‑level customers, including the public sector.

Key job responsibilities
  • Build a strategic plan for how we manage segmentation and territory planning.
  • Develop innovative approaches to delivering operational solutions that scale.
  • Represent the Commercial Sales organization in the development of new tools and automation in support of annual planning.
  • Write business papers and deliver recommendations to executive leadership for consideration.
  • Identify issues and challenges related to sales strategy projects, and drive timely resolution.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze data.
  • Experience defining, refining and implementing sales processes, procedures and policies or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within a high‑growth, technology company.
  • Experience in finance, business management and sales operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
