Sales Manager – Mechanical Interlocking Safety Systems

Job Title: Head of Sales – Mechanical Interlocking Safety Systems

Industry Sector: Harsh and Safety Critical Environments, Mechanical, Locking, Manufacturing, Power, Utilities, Energy, Construction, Industrial Safety, Logistic Safety, Distribution, End Users, Retail, Logistics, and Warehousing

Area to be covered: Remote

Remuneration: £75,000 + circa £25,000-£30,000 Commission

Benefits: Car allowance, Hybrid Car or EV + comprehensive benefits packages

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Manage a team of 5 field sales professionals, focusing on safety solutions for harsh and safety-critical environments.
  2. Primarily UK-based with some European travel (up to one month a year).
  3. Manage, coach, develop, and recruit field sales personnel as needed.
  4. Promote safety solutions including safety gates, switch disconnectors, time delay switches/isolators, panel door interlocks, exchange boxes, etc.
  5. Focus on selling loading bay safety solutions to safeguard against accidental drive-aways, targeting health & safety managers in manufacturing, retail, and warehouse facilities.
  6. Engage in 30% sales to distributors and OEMs across energy, industrial, and loading bay segments.
  7. Initially responsible for a turnover of circa £5.75m, with growth target to £6m.
  8. Strategically transform the team towards a proactive, new business-oriented approach, targeting new segments, contractors, specifiers, and joint ventures.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Proven track record in managing and improving a field sales team.
  • Experience or familiarity with sectors such as mechanical, manufacturing, retail, warehouse facilities, energy, or construction.
  • Ability to transform an account management team into a proactive, new business-focused team.
  • Entrepreneurial approach, understanding of value selling, and strong coaching skills.
