National Sales Manager Mechanical Interlocking Safety Systems

Job Title: Head of Sales Mechanical Interlocking Safety Systems

Industry Sector: Harsh and Safety Critical Environments, Mechanical, Locking, Manufacturing, Power Generation, Utilities, Energy, Construction, Industrial Safety, Logistic Safety, Distribution, End Users, Retail, Logistics and Warehousing

Area to be covered: National based remote

Remuneration: £75,000 + circa £25,000-£30,000 Commission

Benefits: Car allowance, Hybrid Car or EV + comprehensive benefits packages

The role of the National Sales Manager Mechanical Interlocking Safety Systems will involve:

  • Managing a team of 5 field sales professionals, responsible for coaching, developing, and recruiting as needed
  • Primarily UK-based with some European travel (up to one month per year), including trips to Germany and other European locations
  • Promoting safety solutions in harsh and safety-critical environments, including products like safety gates, switch disconnectors, time delay switches/isolators, panel door interlocks, and exchange boxes
  • Focusing approximately 70% of sales efforts on loading bay safety solutions, targeting health & safety managers in manufacturing, retail, and warehouse facilities, with typical solutions valued between £75,000-£200,000
  • Remaining 30% of sales into distributors and OEMs across energy, industrial, and loading bay segments, serving clients like Tesco, DHL, TJ Maxx, UPS
  • Managing an initial turnover of circa £5.75m, with a goal to grow this to £6m, focusing on the growth area of loading bay solutions valued at circa £2.5m
  • Strategically transforming the team towards a proactive new business approach, targeting new segments, contractors, specifiers, and joint ventures with other manufacturers
  • Exploring partnerships with allied manufacturers to win specifications and influence contractors, e.g., industrial door manufacturers

The ideal applicant will have:

  • A proven track record in managing and improving a field sales team
  • Experience in allied sectors such as mechanical, manufacturing, retail, warehouse facilities, energy, or construction
  • Knowledge of safety products is not essential but may be advantageous
  • The ability to transform an account management-focused team into a proactive new business team
  • An entrepreneurial approach, understanding value selling, and being a great coach, mentor, and trainer
