Elevation Recruitment Group are partnering with a well established Sutton-in-Ashfield business to recruit a Sales Estimating Engineer. The role focuses on preparing estimates and tenders, supporting the sales process and collaborating with customers and engineering teams to win orders.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering or technical background with estimating or tendering experience, and good communication and methodical approach to preparing accurate estimates.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer enquiries and prepare sales tenders and quotations with the sales team.
• Build and maintain relationships with prospective customers through enquiry and quotation stages.
• Prepare estimates and tenders in line with engineering standards and product requirements.
• Coordinate with customers at order stage and follow credit control procedures.
• Create contract folders and handover documentation for the Engineering team and attend handover meetings.
• Maintain ongoing communication with customers during enquiry and post‑order fases to ensure satisfaction.
• Work with Engineering to ensure build specifications are understood and delivered.
• Support Engineering with commercial or cost variations during the contract.
• Assess new products and suppliers for improved solutions and efficiency.
• Attend internal and customer meetings or site visits as required.

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a well established business based in Sutton-in-Ashfield, who are looking for an experienced Sales Estimating Engineer to join the team.

The role will focus on preparing estimates and tenders, supporting the sales process and working closely with customers and internal engineering teams to secure new orders.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Ensure all activities are carried out in line with the company’s Business Management System, policies and procedures.
• Evaluate customer enquiries and prepare accurate sales tenders and quotations in collaboration with the wider sales team and relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective customers throughout the enquiry and quotation process.
• Prepare estimates and tenders in accordance with the company’s engineering standards, procedures and product requirements.
• Liaise with customers at order stage, ensuring all necessary information is captured and company credit control procedures are followed.
• Prepare comprehensive contract folders and documentation for handover to the Engineering team, supporting effective project kick-off and attending handover meetings where required.
• Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the enquiry and post-order stages, ensuring continuity, customer satisfaction and positive working relationships.
• Work closely with Engineering to ensure customer requirements and agreed build specifications are clearly understood and delivered across the project.
• Support the Engineering team with any commercial or cost variations that arise during the contract.
• Evaluate new products, suppliers, technologies and manufacturing techniques alongside Sales and Engineering colleagues to identify opportunities for improved solutions and efficiency.
• Attend internal meetings and customer meetings or site visits as required, representing the company professionally.

About You

You will ideally have an engineering or technical background with an understanding of estimating, tendering or customer-facing technical sales.

The ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues is important, as is a methodical approach to preparing accurate estimates.

Experience with AutoCAD and the ability to produce general arrangement drawings or single-line power schematics would be advantageous, but is not essential.
