Petersham Nurseries Ltd. is seeking a Sales Assistant for the Lifestyle Shop in the United Kingdom. Flexible hours are available for either a full-time or part-time position.

This role is the face of the Petersham Nurseries Shop, delivering high levels of customer service with strong product knowledge to build lasting relationships and drive sales. You will help customers, operate the till, assist with stock and shop displays, and participate in weekly sales activities.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in retail is preferred.
• Good product knowledge and a helpful, friendly manner.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.

PositionPurpose:

As a Sales Assistant, you are the face of thePetersham Nurseries Shop, responsible for providing the highest levels ofcustomer service, demonstrating exceptional product knowledge and buildingquality customer relationships that result in increased sales and repeatbusiness.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Welcome all customers shop ina friendly and approachable manner.
• Serving customersat the till and being an obvious presence throughout the shop – assessingopportunities for up and cross selling throughout the product range.
• Build lasting customerrelationships to deliver increased sales through effective up selling and crossselling throughout the shop.
• Achieve retail weekly sales targetsset by Manager and Buying Team.
• Handle refunds graciously andturn them into sales opportunities.
• Increase the customer base byencouraging inclusion in Company database.
• Give accurate and currentinformation about the product.
• Direct customers throughoutthe shop or to the specific area the customer enquires after at all times, evenwhen going on breaks.
• Taking customer enquiries byphone and handling efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Aim to achieve ‘Guest Shopper’commendations.
• Checking on allcustomer deliveries due out and liaising with internal delivery dept. oroutside couriers.
• Take part inproduct training and team briefings, both formal and on a daily basis.
• Assisting andassuming same responsibilities in the horticultural garden shop when required.
• Full and accuratetill operation and responsible for cash handling procedures are adhered to.
• Implement theshop display standards.
• Keep stock, stock rooms, tillpoints and fixtures, fittings and merchandise clean and tidy.
• Physicallyreplenishing from stock room and continuing as necessary throughout day.
• Ensure all stock is ticketed barcodedand priced.
• Watering andmaintaining all house plants as required. Watering of floor and raking asrequired.
• Assisting withstore room tidy ups.
• Assist in weekly stock countsand rotation of perishable goods.
• Assist with (annual/bi-annual) Stock Takes.
• Ensure security proceduresare followed in order to prevent theft.
• Accuratelyadministrating delivery files, gift vouchers and write offs.
• Liaising withstock control for accurate reporting of stock anomalies, wastage and breakages.
• Work in a safe way following the company guidelines.
