Job summary

STARK Building Materials UK in Dudley is offering a Sales Adviser Apprentice role at the DY2 0RH branch. You will learn all aspects of branch operation while developing product knowledge and customer service skills, with hands-on training and a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be supported by experienced colleagues and mentors, with clear routes to career progression in sales, customer service, and the construction supply industry within a leading builders’ merchants.

Qualifications

• No previous experience is necessary. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are valued.
• Strong communication with customers and colleagues is essential.
• Basic maths and English skills required; willing to work towards further qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to customers.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Advisor Apprentice in our Dudley (DY2 0RH) branch!

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Sales Adviser Apprentice to join our team and develop a successful career within one of the UK’s leading builders’ merchants.

Jewson Partnership Solutions (JPS) is a brand within Stark UK which specialises in providing solutions for our customers in the Public Sector predominately Housing Associations and Local Authorities.

We operate numerous supply solutions across the UK where certain contracts incorporate a dedicated distribution store and a solution to provide van stocks and a wide range of building maintenance materials including plumbing, electrical and ironmongery.

Our JPS contracts are buoyant and busy outlets solely focused on our contract with the local council or housing association.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience, earn while you learn, and achieve a nationally recognised qualification whilst working in a fast-paced trade environment.

Working hours: Monday - Thursday 7am - 5pm and Friday 7am - 4.30pm

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Sales Adviser Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced colleagues and learn all aspects of the branch operation, including:

• Providing excellent customer service to customers
• Assisting with product selection and enquiries
• Developing product knowledge across building materials and construction supplies
• Processing sales orders and quotations and all aspects of administration
• Supporting stock management and merchandising activities
• Building positive relationships with our customer and suppliers
• Learning how to identify sales opportunities and maximise branch performance
• Understanding health and safety procedures within the branch
• Working towards achieving your apprenticeship qualification

What We’re Looking For Someone Who

• Has a positive attitude and eagerness to learn
• Enjoys communicating with customers, colleagues and building relationships
• Has good organisational and teamwork skills
• Is confident using computers and learning new systems
• Demonstrates reliability, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic
• Has qualifications i.e. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths or A Levels or is willing to work towards achieving them if required.
• The role may also be of interest to a college leaver who is looking to gain experience in the workplace.
