About

Sales Advisor - Events

Riviera International Centre, Torquay

This is an outstanding career opportunity for an individual passionate about the events industry, seeking to join an organisation that prides itself on providing exceptional customer journeys in both events and leisure. The Riviera International Centre is a prominent destination in the South West, featuring extensive conferencing and event facilities, including a conference auditorium, arena/exhibition hall, and additional meeting and function rooms. We are looking for someone with sales experience, preferably in events or hospitality (though not essential), to actively seek new business, handle enquiries, manage administrative tasks such as contracts, attend trade shows, network, and show clients around the venue. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, passion for the industry, and a confident, engaging personality that puts clients at ease.

Main Duties
  1. Process conference and event enquiries via website, email, phone, or walk-ins, aiming to convert leads into confirmed bookings.
  2. Collaborate with the Sales and Events Manager to develop existing business and identify new opportunities.
  3. Maintain accurate contact and enquiry data, updating the event management system and ensuring follow-ups.
  4. Understand client requirements, objectives, and budgets to create tailored proposals and packages.
  5. Assist in developing sales and marketing activities, which may include some weekend or off-site work.
  6. Complete administrative tasks such as updating sales notes, drawing contracts, providing room plans, sample menus, and other client information prior to confirmation.
The Person
  • Ideally experienced in events and/or hospitality.
  • Friendly, approachable, and proactive attitude.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking.
  • Flexible, with occasional evening and weekend work for trade shows or networking events.
  • Computer literate.
  • Motivated to excel in a challenging but rewarding industry.
