About us

The Nile Practice is a friendly, well-established practice providing high-quality care to our local community. We have a list size of around 10,000 patients across 3 sites, Cheslyn Hay, Cannock and Hednesford. Our current team includes 2 Partners, 4 ANP's, a multidisciplinary team including Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist, Mental Health Counsellor, Physiotherapist and Social Prescriber.

Job summary. To work as an autonomous practitioner,responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population,delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMScontract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards forgood medical practice, contributing to the effective management of thepractice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative workingrelationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

1 Primary Responsibilities

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels:

Thedelivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

Theprovision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

Genericprescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Effectivemanagement of long-term conditions

Processingof administration in a timely manner, including referrals, lab reports,Workflow documents, repeat prescription requests and other associatedadministrative tasks

Anyprivate work done during the working day i.e. PMAs, medical reports, will becarried as part of normal duties and all fees received for such remain theproperty of the Practice

Inaccordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will make themselvesavailable to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations,video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, covering urgent careduties and visiting patients at home

Maintainaccurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy andguidance

Workingcollaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhereto best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Contributeto the successful implementation of continuous improvement and qualityinitiatives within the practice

Acceptdelegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF

Attendand contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Contributeeffectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including;clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

Ensurecompliance with the appraisal process

Prepareand complete the revalidation process

Committo self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional developmentacross the practice team

Supportthe training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

Supportthe partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, makingrecommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

Reviewand adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

Encouragecollaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a cultureof continuous improvement at all times

Ingeneral, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal dutiesand responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

2 Secondary Responsibilities

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GPmay be requested to:

Participatein practice audits as requested by the audit lead

Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

Participatein the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structuredapproach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)

8 Records Management

The post holder has responsibility for the timely andaccurate creation, maintenance and storage of records in accordance withPractice policy, including email documents and with regard to the GDPR, TheFreedom of Information Act and any other relevant statutory requirements.

10 Safeguarding

The practice is committed to safeguarding and promoting thewelfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staffto share its commitment.

11 Security

The security of the practice is the responsibility of allpersonnel. Staff must ensure they remain vigilant at all times and report anysuspicious activity immediately to their line manager. Under no circumstancesare staff to share the codes for the door locks to anyone and are to ensurethat restricted areas remain effectively secured.

12 Service Implementation/Improvement

Assistwith safeguarding for both children and vulnerable adults using local guidanceand referral criteria

Understandbasic legal and communication issues regarding child abuse, family violence,vulnerable adults, substance misuse and addictive behaviour

Contributenew ideas to improve patient care

Workwith the practice to ensure targets are met

Smoking- the Practice operates a non-smoking policy. Employees are not permitted tosmoke or use e-cigarettes anywhere within the premises of the Practice or whenoutside on official business.
