Job summary

Newburn Surgery invites applications for a salaried GP post arising from retirement. The role covers 6–8 sessions per week in a training practice with about 6,300 patients, offering face-to-face, telephone and online consultations, plus home visits, prescriptions, test results and on‑call duties.

Applicants must have MBBS or equivalent, GMC registration and MRCGP. The start date is April 2027, with a supportive, teaching‑oriented team and opportunities to supervise medical students and GP

Job description

A salaried GP post at Newburn Surgery, arising from a retirement, with room for one or possibly two doctors in a practice of about 6,300 patients. The work is mainly consultations in person, by phone and online, plus home visits, prescriptions, test results and paperwork, with a share of on-call. It is for 6 to 8 sessions a week in a training and teaching practice with access to a Primary Care Network team. Candidates need MRCGP and current GMC registration, and the start is April 2027.

What the job involves

• Face-to-face consultations

• Supervising and supporting medical students, F2 doctors and GP registrars
• Sharing on-call sessions
• Checking and signing prescriptions
• Dealing with medication queries and test results
• Paperwork, including insurance reports and medical correspondence, completed promptly
• All normal GP duties associated with primary care

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent
• MRCGP

Registration & licences

• Full current GMC registration
