Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a Salaried GP at Tynemouth Medical Practice in the London area. The role covers full primary care with face-to-face, video and telephone consultations, home visits, and managing a caseload. There is potential for a partnership track and teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients via face-to-face, video or telephone as per timetable.
• Care for a caseload including home visits when needed.
• Develop care plans with counselling and health education.
• Issue and sign repeats and review prescriptions.
• Record accurate notes and contribute to patient records.
• Support practice meetings and participate in training.
• Contribute to audit data and clinical standards.

Job description

Salaried GP post with a view to partnership at Tynemouth Medical Practice, a large training practice. The work covers the full range of primary care: face-to-face, telephone and video consultations, home visits, managing a caseload, signing repeat prescriptions and handling correspondence. The role is for up to eight sessions a week, with scope for specialist interests or teaching, and the practice is a licensed Skilled Worker sponsor. Full GMC registration and a place on the Primary Medical Services performers list are needed to apply.

What the job involves

• Consulting with patients by telephone, video and face to face in line with the practice timetable
• Making home visits to patients
• Assessing undifferentiated and undiagnosed health needs and making autonomous clinical decisions
• Developing care plans with patients, with counselling and health education
• Admitting and discharging patients from the caseload and referring to other care providers
• Issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, and checking and signing repeats
• Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
• Recording clear consultation notes and contributing to patient records, including summarising and read-coding
• Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely way
• Collecting audit data and contributing to evaluation and clinical standard setting
• Following practice policies and taking part in practice meetingsTaking part in the practice training programme and annual individual performance review
