Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain seeks a temporary salaried GP for Ferryhill & Chilton Medical Practice, a two-site training practice serving 15,000 patients. The post runs to 31 March 2027, subject to review, with focus on face-to-face, telephone and e-consultations, home visits and care planning.

Six sessions weekly are within a team of partners, nurse practitioners and clinical pharmacists; GMC registration with licence to practise and a CCT or equivalent are required.

Qualifications

• CCT or equivalent required.
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Experience using SystmOne.

Responsibilities

• Face-to-face, telephone and e-consultations as per timetable.
• Make autonomous clinical decisions on presenting problems.
• Develop care plans with patients per disease management protocols.
• Record clear, contemporaneous consultation notes to standards.
• Admit or discharge patients and refer to other providers.
• Issue prescriptions per the Practice formulary and check repeats.
• Cover enhanced access sessions and normal GP duties.

Job description

A temporary salaried GP post at Ferryhill & Chilton Medical Practice, a two-site training practice of 15,000 patients, running to the end of March 2027 subject to review. The work centres on face-to-face, telephone and e-consultations, home visits, repeat prescribing, care planning and referrals, plus a fair share of enhanced access sessions. Six sessions a week sit within a team of partners, nurse practitioners and clinical pharmacists. Full GMC registration with a licence to practise and a CCT or equivalent are required.

What the job involves

• Face-to-face and telephone consultations, e-consultations and home visits, per the Practice timetable
• Making autonomous clinical decisions on presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred by other staff
• Assessing health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
• Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
• Developing care plans with patients in line with Practice disease management protocols
• Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers
• Recording clear, contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
• Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions in line with the Practice formulary
• Checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries
• Filing results, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
• Covering a fair share of enhanced access sessions
• All normal duties and responsibilities of a GP working in primary care

Qualifications

• Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent

Registration & licences

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise on the GP Register
