Job summary

Babcock in Plymouth, Devonport Dockyard, is seeking a Safety Performance and Learning Advisor to support the Health and Safety team with data coordination, reporting and learning across the business.

You will maintain safety event records, track actions, produce performance information, support meetings and investigations, and help share lessons learned to strengthen safety culture in a highly regulated defence environment.

Qualifications

Job Title: Safety Performance and Learning Advisor
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Compensation: £28,300 - £35,400 Depending on Experience + Benefits
Role Type: Full time / Permanent

The role

As a Safety Performance Coordinator, you'll play an important role in helping our Naval Nuclear business maintain a strong safety culture and continuously improve the way we work. Supporting the Health and Safety team, you'll help coordinate safety-related activities, maintain accurate records, monitor actions and support the sharing of lessons learned across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong administrative or coordination background who enjoys working with data, managing processes and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. In this role, you'll help track safety events and actions, produce reports and performance information, support meetings and investigations, and ensure important learning and improvement activities are effectively captured and communicated across the business. You'll gain valuable experience in a highly regulated environment, developing skills in safety, compliance, reporting and continuous improvement while contributing to the delivery of critical defence programmes.

  • Coordinating and maintaining safety event records, ensuring actions are accurately tracked, updated and progressed through to completion.
  • Preparing reports, spreadsheets, performance information and trend analysis to support the Health and Safety team and wider business, helping to identify opportunities for process improvement and best practice sharing.
  • Supporting meetings by organising documentation, recording actions and helping to ensure agreed actions are progressed.
  • Working with stakeholders across the business to communicate lessons learned, promote a positive safety culture, and support safety, compliance and continuous improvement activities.
  • Providing administrative and coordination support for safety investigations, reporting and improvement initiatives, ensuring learning is effectively captured and shared.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Safety Performance and Learning Advisor
  • Experience in an administrative, coordination, business support, compliance or similar role, with responsibility for maintaining records, tracking actions and ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with good working knowledge of Excel for managing data, producing reports and maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience producing reports, managing data and using spreadsheets to monitor information, support decision-making and provide business insights.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and deliver high-quality outputs to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels and a willingness to develop knowledge of health, safety and compliance processes.
Qualifications for the Safety Performance and Learning Advisor
