This is a 1st Shift Position. The employee works four ten hour shifts per week, with the standard hours of 6am – 4pm. The employee is scheduled to work every-other weekend (Fri-Mon). Position responsibilities include security patrols of campus (by vehicle and on foot), responding to medical and emergency calls for service, opening of administrative and academic buildings, providing safe-ride services, enforcing of all University student and employee conduct policies, conducting criminal investigations, community engagement with faculty, staff and students, and engaging with all community members in a Christ-like manner.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
One year of employment in the safety and security services field or emergency services industry. Prior experience working in a higher education setting.
Must have the ability to mentally and physically perform essential job functions which require walking, prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, lifting (40lbs), dragging 150lbs 10 feet or more and endure various weather conditions. Willingness to work different shifts, work weekends and holidays, some mandatory overtime required for special events; submit to Hepatitis B immunization or provide documentation of such. This position is essential; employees providing essential services must report to work as scheduled by their supervisor in the event of an emergency closing or delay, regardless of weather conditions.
This position requires the operation of a Messiah University owned or leased vehicle and the employee must possess and maintain a current driver’s license, meet the established criteria, and abide by all policies and procedures as presented in the University’s Fleet Vehicle Use Policy.
