Job description

Overview

Element has an excellent opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environment Manager to support its Environmental business across 10 locations in the UK. As a member of the divisional leadership team, this position will partner with local management teams to support the implementation of the Element SHE program.

This position reports directly to the EMEAA SHE Director and works closely with the Environmental Divisional Director and the EMEAA teams. It will be based in the North West of England. The role requires frequent travel to Element locations and client sites across the UK and Ireland.

Core Responsibilities

1. Support divisional leadership to:
2. Integrate SHE program into daily operations
3. Ensure appropriate resources are in place and understand roles and responsibilities
4. Provide expertise, guidance, and critical challenge
5. Support creation, monitoring, and reporting on improvement plans
6. Coach leadership and operations teams
7. Assist in documenting annual improvement plans
8. Support local SHE Managers and focal points
9. Facilitate audits and management system reviews
10. Ensure compliance with regulatory and Element SHE requirements
11. Identify opportunities for improvement and share best practices
12. Communicate effectively across all levels
13. Report progress on improvement plans to leadership

Skills / Qualifications

• Degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Management, Risk Management, or related fields, or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of local safety, health, and environmental laws
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience, with some management experience
• Experience in construction, demolition, industrial sites, or laboratory environments preferred
• Ability to interpret safety and technical documents
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Ability to analyze data and apply basic math concepts
• Problem-solving skills in practical situations
• Valid Driver's License with minimal endorsements
• Exposure to safety standards, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance
