Reporting to the Head of Safety, you’ll be part of a team of seven Safety & Environment Business Partners who support our Operating Companies across the UK. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll provide professional, practical and approachable guidance on safety, sustainability and environmental matters, helping to create safer workplaces and drive continuous improvement. This is a varied, field-based role where you’ll build strong relationships with operational teams, provide assurance through auditing activities, support investigations, and coach leaders to strengthen safety culture and performance. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our Operating Companies meet regulatory requirements while continually improving safety and environmental standards. If you’re passionate about making a positive impact, influencing change, and working closely with operational teams to improve safety outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with managers, supervisors, Health & Safety Representatives and wider stakeholders.
  • Deliver a programme of health, safety, sustainability and environmental audits, assessing compliance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide independent assurance on management systems and organisational performance.
  • Support the implementation of divisional safety initiatives and action plans.
  • Coach and develop managers and supervisors, helping them build confidence and capability in applying safety management systems.
  • Investigate significant accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and recommending preventative actions.
  • Monitor audit findings and action plans, ensuring improvements are implemented and driven through to completion.
  • Analyse near miss and CIRAS reporting trends, providing practical recommendations to reduce risk and improve performance.
  • Attend Operational Safety Forums and provide guidance on safety and environmental matters.
  • Identify training needs and work collaboratively to support the development of safety and environmental capability across the business.
  • Share best practice across regions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support safety projects and topic-specific activities as directed by the Head of Safety.
What We Need
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Technical Member of IOSH (TechIOSH) as a minimum.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of conducting audits, ideally supported by a recognised auditing qualification.
  • Experience of management systems and their practical application, preferably ISO 45001.
  • Experience investigating accidents and incidents and identifying effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • A proactive, analytical and solution-focused approach, with strong attention to detail.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel regularly across multiple operational sites.
  • Flexibility to work hours that meet the needs of a field-based operational role.
