Lead and manage a Safety, Environment and Chemistry Team that oversees governance, risk, and site compliance with all statutory, ISO, and company standards related to Safety, Environment, Chemistry, Health, and Sustainability plans across Enfield, Grain, and Taylor's Lane (EGTL).

Your responsibilities
  1. Engage as a key member of the site management team supporting the Governance and Strategy Manager in developing and delivering strategic plans to meet business performance targets (covering compliance, commercial, process, and people aspects).
  2. Develop and implement the Safety, Environment, and Chemistry strategy, collaborating with functional leads, company specialists, and HSSSE colleagues.
  3. Serve as the point of contact for Safety, Environment, and Chemistry (SE&C) matters, overseeing security activities, systems, and projects affecting SE&C risks.
  4. Ensure compliance with all permits, legislative, and statutory requirements.
  5. Manage the on-site EUETS process, ensuring timely data processing, maintaining procedures, and organizing audits.
  6. Monitor and report on SE&C statistics to evaluate performance and develop improvement programs.
  7. Oversee emergency plans, statutory inspections, and ensure procedures are communicated and trained.
  8. Responsible for Legionella control.
  9. Develop, review, and manage local Chemistry and HSSE procedures.
  10. Create and manage the integrated audit plan to demonstrate compliance and continuous improvement in Chemistry and HSSE areas.
  11. Maintain the site Chemistry and HSSE Improvement Program.
  12. Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and produce reports with recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  13. Manage HSSSE reporting, investigations, and action closures.
  14. Liaise with central HSSE functions and represent EGTL at meetings.
  15. Produce and review standards, procedures, and instructions, including management instructions, operating procedures, and risk assessments.
  16. Manage occupational health & safety services, including COSHH, Noise, Radiography, and gas testing.
  17. Oversee laboratory certification to ensure monitoring activities meet technical and safety standards.
Your profile
  1. Educated to HND/degree level or equivalent in engineering, safety, environment, or chemistry; working towards a management qualification (DMS) is a plus.
  2. NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management or equivalent.
  3. Proven understanding of health and safety legislation, qualified to NEBOSH general certificate standard or equivalent.
  4. Deep understanding of environmental issues, IPC authorization, and ISO 14001 in power generation or similar industry.
  5. Chemistry experience in power plant operations, practice, and theory.
  6. Extensive experience with safety and environmental policies, frameworks, and legislation.
  7. Leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and experience delivering change and business improvements.
  8. Experience engaging with external organizations and statutory bodies.
