Job summary

Rullion is seeking a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to support major UK defence and nuclear programmes. Based in Glasgow with occasional travel, you will provide safety case leadership and technical expertise across the full project lifecycle.

The role requires UK nuclear safety expertise, experience producing safety documentation, and strong stakeholder engagement to coordinate teams and drive safety strategies. Site-based with travel to client sites and a hybrid working setup.

Qualifications

• Experience in nuclear safety case within defence or nuclear sector.
• Understanding of UK nuclear regulatory requirements and standards.
• Experience producing high-quality technical safety documentation.
• Proven ability to engage stakeholders and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate safety case work packages and teams.
• Develop and deliver nuclear safety case strategies across projects.
• Support safety-informed design and engineering decisions.
• Produce safety documentation (PSRs, PCSRS, ALARP assessments).
• Engage with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary teams.

Hours of work: 37.5 Hours per week

Role information:

• We are seeking an experienced Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to support major UK defence and nuclear programmes. Based in Glasgow, with occasional travel to client sites, you will provide safety case leadership and technical expertise across the full project lifecycle.

Qualifications/Experience Required

• Strong nuclear safety case experience within the defence or nuclear sector.
• Knowledge of UK nuclear regulatory requirements and standards.
• Experience producing high-quality technical safety documentation.
• Proven stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
• Develop and deliver nuclear safety case strategies.
• Support safety-informed design and engineering decisions.
• Conduct safety assessments and hazard studies (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, HAZAN).
• Produce safety documentation, including PSRs, PCSRS and ALARP assessments.
• Engage with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead and coordinate safety case work packages and teams.
