Job summary

Amentum is seeking Safety Case Engineers to join our Defence & Security team. Based hybrid near Theale, Bristol, with occasional visits to client sites across nuclear and defence sectors in the UK and overseas, you will develop safety justification documents for complex facilities and systems, including Nuclear, Product, Construction, Process and HSE.

You will participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, SHERAs and stakeholder meetings, drive technical quality, and help build a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Develop integrated safety cases for complex facilities and systems in nuclear/defence sectors.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure technical quality and excellence of work.
• Regular communication with clients and design team members; participate in Design Reviews, HAZOPs, and SHERAs.
• Contribute to safety requirements within designs for complex facilities and equipment.
• Adhere to business and quality management systems.
• Lead in developing appropriate safety justification documentation, predominantly Nuclear.

Job description

These roles will ideally be based close to our Theale, Bristol, Glasgow office in a hybrid working role, and there will be a need for periodic visits to client sites as projects require. The Defence & Security business provides an exciting mixture of consultancy, design and engineering support, along with delivery of challenging Defence projects, to major clients in the UK at a variety of Sites across the nuclear and defence industries, including HMNB Clyde, HMNB Devonport, BAES Barrow and AWE Aldermaston. Overseas, we are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe including projects for clients in the Middle East and Australia. Taking a lead role in the development of the appropriate and proportionate safety case including Nuclear, Product, Construction, Process and HSE.

• Contributing to the development of designs for complex facilities, systems and equipment
• Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems
• Operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture, Taking a lead role in the development of the appropriate and proportionate safety justification documentation case which will predominantly be including Nuclear but may also include, Product, Construction, Process and HSE
