Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for nuclear safety, robust technical thinking and delivering high-quality safety case outputs? RB Safety Consultants is looking for a Safety Case Engineer to support our Safety Case Manager and play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of nuclear facilities across the UK.

About the Role

As a Safety Case Engineer, you will contribute to the development, delivery and maintenance of safety case documentation aligned with UK relevant good practice. You will work independently or collaboratively to produce high-quality engineering outputs, offer expert guidance across project teams, and represent the Safety Case Manager when needed.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on technical challenge, understands the importance of nuclear safety, and enjoys influencing positive safety outcomes across complex engineering environments.

Eligibility & Security Requirements

This role requires UK Sole Nationality due to the nature of the projects and security clearance requirements. Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce safety case deliverables aligned with UK regulatory expectations and good practice
• Develop clear, evidence based safety arguments and high-quality safety reports
• Apply engineering principles, domain knowledge and experience to deliver robust technical solutions
• Lead or support engineering and technical activities across the product lifecycle
• Provide advice, direction and mentorship to project teams on nuclear safety matters
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and ALARP principles
• Conduct and contribute to risk assessments, hazard analyses and design basis assessments
• Represent the Safety Case Manager in meetings and technical discussions

Technical Skills & Experience

Safety & Engineering:

• Strong understanding of engineering principles
• Knowledge of nuclear regulations, standards and relevant good practice

Safety Case Production:

• Experience constructing safety arguments
• Skilled in writing safety case documentation
• Understanding of ALARP and regulatory compliance
• Design Basis Analysis
• Probabilistic Risk Assessment
• Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
• Clear communicator with strong technical writing skills
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and guide others
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
