Job summary

First Steps Together is seeking an exceptional Recruitment Officer to join our People Services team and help us find, attract and appoint the people who make that possible. This role goes beyond recruitment administration, delivering a professional and engaging journey from vacancy through to appointment.

You’ll coordinate campaigns, manage recruitment platforms, and drive safer recruitment and pre-employment checks to ensure every new starter is recruited safely and supported from day one.

Qualifications

• Experience in recruitment or HR administration, with ability to manage multiple vacancies and pre-employment checks.
• Experience recruiting in education, children’s social care or healthcare is valuable, including DBS processes and safety standards (KCSIE).
• Knowledge of safer recruitment practices and working with applicant screening systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment campaigns across the organisation and manage vacancy postings.
• Oversee pre-employment checks (Enhanced DBS, Right to Work, references, qualifications).
• Maintain accurate records and audit-ready documentation across People Services.
• Support onboarding and the candidate journey from application to start date.
• Develop relationships with colleges and universities and promote employer branding to reduce reliance on agencies.
