Job summary

Bridgwater Academy, part of Bridgwater & Taunton College Trust, is seeking a proactive Safeguarding Officer to promote safety and wellbeing for all students at Brymore Academy. Working with the DSL, you will be a trusted contact for safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate support for vulnerable pupils.

The role requires strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent communication, and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for young people.

Qualifications

• Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as a primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns for staff and students.
• Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in safeguarding and child protection across the academy.
• Manage referrals to external agencies and participate in multi‑agency meetings.
• Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records and ensure data quality.
• Collaborate with families, staff and partner agencies to secure positive outcomes for vulnerable children.
• Provide guidance and support to staff on safeguarding matters and policy adherence.
• Support pupils experiencing emotional wellbeing challenges (low mood, anxiety).
• Contribute to safeguarding training, policy development and safeguarding culture.
