Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is partnering with a Birmingham school to appoint a dedicated Safeguarding Officer. This full-time, long-term role focuses on creating a safe, inclusive environment, supporting vulnerable students, and upholding child protection standards.

The post involves working with the DSL to manage welfare concerns, maintain accurate records, and liaise with Birmingham safeguarding partners to ensure high standards of safeguarding practice.

Qualifications

• Experience in safeguarding, pastoral, social work, or youth welfare in education or community settings.
• Knowledge of UK safeguarding frameworks (KCSIE) and data confidentiality.
• Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Act as a reliable point of contact for safeguarding and welfare issues, responding swiftly to disclosures.
• Collaborate with Birmingham Children’s Trust, local police, and external support services to champion student welfare.
• Maintain detailed, secure safeguarding records in line with statutory requirements and school protocols.
• Provide a consistent, reassuring presence for students needing guidance or early intervention.
• Assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure staff follow current statutory guidelines (KCSIE).
