Job summary

Nini Social Care Services CIC is seeking a dedicated individual to act as an Appropriate or Responsible Adult in Birmingham. The role focuses on safeguarding, mentoring and supporting children or vulnerable adults through legal processes, ensuring rights and welfare are protected.

The position involves call-outs, assisting through custody processes, rights explanations, and liaison with professionals, always maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals in safeguarding or support roles.
• Demonstrated mentoring and reassurance abilities in challenging situations.
• Understanding rights and welfare protections during legal processes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out appropriate adult call-outs to venues as required.
• Support a child under 18 or a vulnerable adult through custody processes or meetings.
• Ensure the individual understands their rights during processes such as police interviews or meetings.
• Ensure health, welfare, legal rights, access to a solicitor and entitlements are observed.
• Assist with communication between the individual and professionals.
• Consult custody records to clarify concerns raised by the individual or professionals.
• Complete the appropriate adult report form and return to the duty officer within 24 hours of completion.
• Maintain confidentiality of information and prevent unauthorized disclosure.
• Attend training, support and 1-1 sessions as required.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of the individual while performing duties.
• Treat all individuals fairly and without discrimination.
