Job summary

Trinity Catholic College in Middlesbrough invites applications for a safeguarding-focused position. The postholder will safeguard and protect pupils and staff, coordinate safeguarding referrals, and liaise with statutory agencies to prioritise those affected.

Required qualifications include NVQ Level 3 in learning support/early years or equivalent; DCSF induction; experience with children; and solid understanding of safeguarding procedures and inter-agency collaboration.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in learning support / early years or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Completed the DCSF induction programme.
• Experience working with children in a school/early years environment.
• Understanding and effective implementation of Child Protection procedures, safeguarding partnerships, and safeguarding practice reviews.
• Ability to collaborate with school staff and external agencies to support children and families.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard and protect young people and staff within school, coordinating safeguarding referrals and liaising with statutory agencies.
• Contribute proactively to the work of school staff and external agencies in supporting children, their families and carers.
• Support safeguarding culture and ensure timely responses to safeguarding concerns.

Salary: £31,022 - £35,412 pro rata (actual salary: £27,487 - £31,377)

Hours:37 hours per week, Term Time Only + 2 weeks

The postholder will safeguard and protect the young people and staff within school and ensure there is a culture of vigilance in safeguarding practice, receive safeguarding referrals and coordinate a procedure which addresses and prioritises the needs of those affected by liaising with statutory agencies.

The successful candidate will:

1. Hold an NVQ Level 3 in learning support / early years or equivalent qualification / experience
2. Have completed the DCSF induction programme
3. Have experience working with children in a school/early years environment
4. Have an understanding and effective implementation of Child Protection procedures, local safeguarding partnerships, and safeguarding practice reviews
5. Have the ability to make a proactive contribution to the work of school staff and external agencies in supporting children, their families and carers
