Job summary

Hadleigh High School in Ipswich is seeking a Safeguarding Officer to lead the safeguarding and child protection delivery across the school, ensuring students are safe and supported to reach their potential.

You will work with the DSL, DDSLs, pastoral teams and external agencies to provide high-quality safeguarding support and ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements. You will act as a DDSL and help foster a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection within a school setting.
  • Knowledge of statutory safeguarding requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to work with Designated Safeguarding Lead and deputies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the DSL in implementing safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, sharing safeguarding responsibilities across the school.
  • Receive, assess and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with guidance and school policy.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are risk assessed, recorded and progressed.
  • Support students subject to safeguarding plans or interventions.
  • Contribute to development and review of safeguarding risk assessments and plans.
  • Monitor safeguarding trends and contribute to preventative strategies.

Hadleigh High School is seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer to lead and coordinate the operational delivery of safeguarding and child protection across the school, ensuring that all students are safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.

The Safeguarding Manager will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs), pastoral teams, attendance staff and external agencies to provide high-quality safeguarding support, promote student welfare and ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements.

You will act as a DDSL and play a key role in developing a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

This is not an exhaustive list and you will be expected to show flexibility and assist with other tasks of a similar nature.

You will:

  • support the DSL in implementing the school's safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures
  • act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, sharing responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school
  • receive, assess and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance, local safeguarding procedures and school policy
  • ensure that safeguarding concerns are appropriately risk assessed, recorded and progressed
  • support students who are subject to safeguarding plans or other safeguarding interventions
  • contribute to the development, implementation and review of risk assessments and safeguarding plans for vulnerable students
  • monitor safeguarding trends, identify emerging risks and contribute to preventative safeguarding strategies.
