Job summary

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Safeguarding Nurse/Practitioner (Band 6) to join the safeguarding team in Birmingham. The post is a 9-month fixed-term contract or secondment, designed as a development opportunity for an ROH registered nurse or HCPC‑registered AHP with safeguarding experience.

Structured supervision and mentorship will support professional growth across safeguarding practice.

Qualifications

• Current valid NMC registration or HCPC registration.
• Level 3 Safeguarding Training completed.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Recent safeguarding external training.
• Recognised teaching qualification (Mentorship or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Provide safeguarding advice to frontline staff and support the safeguarding team.
• Assist safeguarding governance, audits and quality improvement activities.
• Develop knowledge of key safeguarding legislation and guidance.
• Work with Social Services to review safeguarding referrals.
• Escalate safeguarding issues to external agencies when necessary.
• Document safeguarding care plans and management plans.
