Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a safeguarding lead to drive Think Family practice and ensure safeguarding across the Trust within a clinical governance framework.

The post holder will build links with internal teams and external agencies, provide expert safeguarding advice, lead training and supervision, and participate in multi‑agency safeguarding meetings to protect children and vulnerable adults.

Qualifications

• Registered safeguarding professional with supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to lead training and supervision of staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality assurance processes, audits and report writing for safeguarding.
• Assess risk in cases and advise clinicians on safeguarding and domestic violence issues.
• Ensure statutory safeguarding obligations for children, unborn and vulnerable adults are met.
• Develop Think Family practice and liaise with external agencies and multi‑agency meetings.
