Bury Council is recruiting an experienced safeguarding professional to join the Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Service as Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). The role provides professional advice, oversees allegations, chairs multi-agency meetings, and ensures timely progression in line with statutory guidance to protect children and young people.

The postholder will influence safeguarding practice across the partnership, support investigations, and contribute to continuous service

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with registration in Social Work England.
• Experience in safeguarding children with exposure to complex risk and decision-making.
• Strong communication and report-writing capabilities.
• Proven ability to chair meetings and work within a multi-agency environment.

Responsabilités

• Provide advice and guidance to employers, schools, providers and voluntary organisations regarding safeguarding allegations against adults working with children.
• Liaise with the police, children’s social care, education settings and other agencies during enquiries and investigations.
• Manage allegation processes and chair meetings to ensure timely resolution and progress.
• Deliver safeguarding training and awareness sessions to the children’s workforce and partner agencies.
• Analyse trends and learning from allegations to strengthen safeguarding arrangements.
• Contribute to quality assurance through auditing, reporting and service improvement.
• Support development of safer working practices and safeguarding culture within organisations.
